Want List:
A list of coins that an individual investor, collector, or coin dealer would like to buy.
Wear:
The removal of metal from a coin by its use in commerce.
Whizzing:
Any artificial process which removes metal from the surface of a coin to make it appear to be in better condition than it actually is. Most whizzed coins have an unnaturally shiny appearance sue to abrasive action. Coins are also whizzed to remove or reduce unsightly abrasions or to mask the effects of adding or removing a mint mark or altering a date. Whizzing is not an acceptable practice among reputable dealers.
Wire rim:
An effect whereby a thin, wire-like section of the rim of a coin is raised above the rest of the rim along the outside. This effect is usually caused by very high striking pressure and tends to occur mostly on proof and high-relief strikings.
Working die:
Any die which is actually used to strike coins
Wrong planchet:
A coin struck on a blank that was intended for another denomination.
